5 Ways To Nurture The Rooted Soul After a Heavy Session

Sometimes there are doozies.

Here are a few tips from a licensed psychotherapist on how to take care of your system after a particularly tough therapy session.

  1. Before you drive away, take a few minutes in the car to acknowledge that you just put in some hard work. Hand on heart, thank yourself for showing up

  2. Set yourself a few reminders throughout the day to pause & check in with your body - reminding that it’s natural to feel particularly drained on a big session day

  3. Breathe deeply & tend to physical needs: stay hydrated, eat slow. Or stimulate your vagus nerve: splash some cold water on your face

  4. If not too depleted, try jotting down some stand-out moments from the session to revisit for next week (pack it up til next time)

  5. Give yourself permission to be the human: take a nap, have a good shower cry, scream sing your anthem on your drive home

And… stay the course 🌱
